Actually Fiza, it depends on your interest. There is a wide array of courses you can study. You have to bear in mind, it's not that what you study is what you are goin' to work in. You can see many examples out there, i.e. an accounting graduate works as a teacher or a businessman, an engineering graduate has a career in photography or catering, etc. And quite number of Msia diplomats were graduates in various fields, not political or diplomatic affairs solely. So now, if you thought of studying TESL, everybody should support you then. Usually, if you study TESL, your career prospect would be more into education. But it's not impossible to land a job in journalism or broadcasting or language translation. As for now, dont think too much on your future jobs, just focus on what you're gonna study... UIA seems a better place for you to do TESL, apart from UKM. But dont be surprised if I told you that UiTM is also good. I could say this bcoz I'd been studying in INTEC, UiTM Shah Alam. TESL students there are very active and competitive. They often go for debate competitions overseas. I can see that you love English that much. I too love English, but it's a bit diff when you study it. There'll be a lot of things that you might not know. But yet, it's fun! Learning language is always fun! You might have to learn English literature which is so cool that you would know William Shakespeare in depth (which I think a must). It is because students studying TESL in the US also need to learn such things. but seriously speaking, it's been a tradition for young students in msia currently are more interested to be teachers. nampak senang kan... tapi u sendiri pun tahu kan realitinya. tengoklah ur mum... i tengok my mum pun boleh menangis. today's teachers are very hectic. they're not only teaching, but more than that. one more thg, if u wanna be a teacher, u should hv known that education system in msia is frequently changing (depends on who's the minister). as for now, the fresh graduated teachers must teach in rural areas first before being permitted to teach in towns. plus, students nowadays are very challenging in many ways. whatever it is, pray to Allah and solat istikharah before you make your choice. I wish you all the best! if ure not afraid of challenges, follow ur heart. but if u dont want to regret, follow ur mind. im telling you this based on my experience.

Me myself also applied for TESL after i received my SPM result. But, i didn't go for the interview. Maybe engineering is my future.
Frankly, to be a teacher u really have to be mentally prepared. Teacher nowadays is not a mundane job just like before. You have to deal with the students' attitude which is so way challenging. I agree with Anis, not every TESL degree holders will drawn into education. Some of them might secure jobs in journalism and even entertainment industry just like some of my friends.

All the best feyza. Same goes to Adam. Hehe.
